Public relations & launch communications

Clear communication when a community’s parking changes.

View detailsHide details

Established paid parking locations generally do not need a dedicated public relations plan when switching parking management companies. Moving from free to paid parking is a change for the community, and how that change is introduced matters.

For these transitions, PARKLINQ works with a Hawaiʻi-based public relations firm on community outreach, launch messaging and media responses. We help shape a positive narrative by explaining the community benefits, addressing concerns and setting clear expectations before launch. Where a property offers customer validation or resident benefits, we make those benefits central to the message.

Local communications experience

PARKLINQ is now working with Bennet Group, one of Hawaiʻi’s largest public relations firms. The firm’s client portfolio includes The Howard Hughes Corporation’s Ward Village, Kamehameha Schools, Bank of Hawaiʻi, Hawaiʻi Pacific University, Aloha Tower Marketplace, Four Seasons Resort Hualālai, Turtle Bay Resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua and Disney’s Aulani Resort.

View detailsHide details

PARKLINQ provides a secure tablet at no cost for parking payments or validation at your visitor center, ticketing desk or business. It offers an easy alternative for guests without a phone or access to international calling or mobile data.

Each tablet sits in a metal countertop or floor stand and connects through our own business SIM card. We don’t need your Wi-Fi—just a power outlet. There’s no commercial installation, conduit or large, unsightly metal pay machine.

For paid parking, the kiosk uses the same screens and process guests see when they scan the parking-lot QR code on their phones.

Special Tax Structure

See how ownership can save $40,000 (88.9%) in GET on every $1 million in parking revenue.

View detailsHide details

Hawaiʻi’s General Excise Tax (GET) applies to business revenue. The usual retail rate is 4.5%, including the county surcharge. Under a qualifying PARKLINQ arrangement, PARKLINQ covers the first 4 percentage points of that 4.5% total, leaving ownership responsible for the remaining 0.5%. Here’s what that means on $1 million in parking revenue.

Example comparison using the same $1,000,000 revenue base. The 0.5% treatment depends on a qualifying wholesale-services arrangement under PARKLINQ’s Hawaiʻi Department of Taxation letter ruling and your property’s agreement.
